Onboarding Course

Crafting a Project Proposal

25 to 27 June 2025

The IMPRS Onboarding Course is designed to help new doctoral researchers develop and articulate their project proposals while gaining a deeper understanding of the Research School’s core elements. This course emphasizes the process of shaping, refining, and critically engaging with research ideas on multiple levels. Over three intensive days, participants will explore how to position their projects within their broader research “puzzle,” sharpen their research questions, and critically reflect on their academic assumptions and methodological choices. Through interactive sessions, including hands-on exercises, mini-conferences for project presentations, and critical discussions, researchers will strengthen their ability to present their work and receive constructive feedback in a collaborative setting. Additionally, the course provides practical guidance on essential workflows for the doctoral journey at IMPRS, including insights into the school‘s curriculum, organizing TAC meetings, and applying for fieldwork funding.
