Partner Institutions (New draft 1)

The graduate school is the collaborative effort of four prominent institutions that have joined forces to pursue a shared vision. The Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Leipzig University and Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg are recognized as leaders in the anthropological-oriented study of social dynamics. All partners have a long and successful history of collaboration in research and research education. The IMPRS will help to create further synergies between these four institutions.
 

Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg

Friedrich-Alexander-Universität was Established in 1743 in Erlangen and has also been based in Nuremberg since 1961. The youngest of our partner university is also the largest: 629 professorships and 40,000 students are located in the two Franconian cities. FAU’s portrait

Leipzig University

Founded in 1409, Leipzig University is one of the oldest European universities and the second oldest continuously operating in Germany. Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg

Founded from the merger of 1502-founded University of Wittenberg and of 1694-founded Friedrichs-Universität, it is named after the Wittenberg-born reformer Martin Luther and can look back on 500 years of history.
