Onboarding Course 2026
The IMPRS Onboarding Course offers new doctoral researchers an introduction to the academic landscape of the Research School by connecting them directly with members of the Teaching Faculty. Participants will visit partner institutions in Halle, Leipzig, and Erlangen, where they will conduct interviews with faculty members. These visits are designed to provide first-hand insights into the diverse academic environments, institutional cultures, and disciplinary perspectives that shape the IMPRS. Throughout the course, participants will develop foundational interview skills, reflect on the role of institutions and academic structures in shaping research as well as gaining an appreciation of the School’s interdisciplinary character. The course also fosters early peer exchange and provides practical guidance for navigating the first steps of the doctoral journey, including information on IMPRS structures, upcoming milestones, and available support systems.
